DL360 G1 expects a disk SCSI PORT:2 ID:8 that cannot exist!

A customer of ours has a DL360 G1 with an Integrated Smart Array Controller. It has two hd, one is id 1 and the other one is id 0, in mirroring. The one with id 0 failed. We replaced it, but the system says that the mirroring is between id 1 and id 8! The new hd is seen as id 0, as it should be, so it is not considered as a replacement for id 8 that failed. We tried to add the new hd as a hot spare in the array, but we could not. Is there any way to solve this problem? Is there a way to change the mirroring, so that the system understands that it can have only two hd, and that the mirroring is between id 1 and id 0 (and not 8)?

Thank You very much

Hi Rodolfo,

This problem is common with older systems and can be difficult to fix other than take a full backup of the working member, rebuild the array from scratch and then restore from backup. Ghost and Acronis true image can also help if you copy the image file to a share on the network then restore when the raid is reconstructed.

There was a recent forum entry with a similar request so please see here for some alternative suggestions.
