DL360-G1 fan control?
I have an ML370-G1 and DL380-G1 and both these control the speed of the fans. I've just loaded w2k3 and linux onto my DL360-G1 and the fan speed does not appear to reduce?
Can anyone confirm if the DL360-G1 has any ability to throttle down the fan speed?
Thanks!

Re: DL360-G1 fan control?
Under linux I get the following on the DL380....
hpasmcli> show fans
Fan Location Present Speed of max Redundant Partner Hot-pluggable
--- -------- ------- ----- ------ --------- ------- -------------
#1 PROCESSOR_ZONE Yes NORMAL 23% No N/A No
#2 POWERSUPPLY_BAY Yes NORMAL N/A No N/A No
but on the DL360 I get....
hpasmcli> show fans
Fan Location Present Speed of max Redundant Partner Hot-pluggable
--- -------- ------- ----- ------ --------- ------- -------------
#1 PROCESSOR_ZONE Yes NORMAL N/A No N/A No
#2 POWERSUPPLY_BAY Yes NORMAL N/A No N/A No
The "N/A" kind of infers that speed fan isn't controllable (as it isn't in the PSUs on the DL380).

Re: DL360-G1 fan control?
Hi Steve,
There is no hardware control for the fan speed of the DL360 G1, its all done by the health driver. For w2k3 try to update the support pack, reboot and see if that makes a difference

Re: DL360-G1 fan control?
The fans in those systems are capable of Normal and High. You are seeing them properly set in Normal mode. When the health package loads during boot, you should hear a distinct change in pitch as it shifts down.
In the case of the NA instead of a percent, those fans don't have the instrumentation to report that info.
