DL360 G1 having red "X" on drive

I have the server above and when ever we insert a hard drive into slot 1 it will rebuild the mirror as it should then I guess when its done the red "X" will come on the drive. We have tried 3 brand new hard drives already and still the same thing. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi,

Cage can be faulty, in that case.

Hi,,

This will do for you.

Re: DL360 G1 having red "X" on drive

Agreed but that is the wrong part # for a DL360 G1. Should be 173829-001. This sserver only has slots for 2 drives, not 4.

A)That is optional cage where as server ships with 4 if i am not wrong.

Re: DL360 G1 having red "X" on drive

have you tried putting the another HDD ( which is working ) in slot1? if the working HDD works in slot1, then there is no problem with cage.

Greg,
If the controller has gone off to rebuild and in sometime the Fault light appears, I would suspect the controller is the one making the fault. THe controller either is predicting failure incorrectly or is at fault in writing the data.
