DL360 G3 Intermittent HDD LED showing red

We have a problem on one of our G3 DL360's where the LED's on a mirrored 36GB array show red although there are no actual problems with the disks. Any ideas anyone?

Yes, have seen this problem before... Some og the DL360 G3 server have got a faulty HDD backplane (small part...). You could try opening up the server and to remove/put back the backplane. THis will help if the problem is located on the connector from the backplane to the systemboard..; otherwise, call HP for a new HDD backplane...

Hi,

This might not be an issue related to HDD. Please check the following link and verify ADU report, which would help you with T/S.

Hi Andrew,
If you are sure that the disk is working fine, then it can be a problem with the backplane of hot swap hdd.

If the hot swap cage is having firmware (active cage), then try to update the firmware of cage. This often cause problems like intermittent disk failure, over temp alarms etc...( even though every thing is working fine.)

Also check the disk firmware to the latest..
