DL360 G4 missing hard disk on boot

I've had 4 brand new DL360 G4 servers (purchased a few weeks apart) that have trouble finding one of the hard disks on boot up. It only seems to happen on a warm boot. If I power off the server, then power it back on, it seems to work fine, until the next warm boot. I've already reseated the hard drives, and BIOS and firmware are the latest versions. Anyone else seen this happen?

Try reseating the SCSI backplane. Does post report a HDD failure?

Hi Joe

Since Cold boot does not show problem, hardware seems to be OK. You can think of applying latest SP on OS

Re: DL360 G4 missing hard disk on boot

Hi

This looks like a hardware issue which should be either with the harddrive itself or the controller, there is a chance this can be a powersupply issue.

Re: DL360 G4 missing hard disk on boot

Hi,

At which stage you finds that it is missing ?

I think it is a hardware issue only. Any OS does not show this sort of problems. I would suggest swaping the hard disk slot for confirming the hdd problem.

Re: DL360 G4 missing hard disk on boot

Try reseating the scsi backplane as mentioned before.

I had a DL 360 that could not find any of the disks. reseating the sci backplane sorted the problem.
