DL360 G4p

This server is loaded with W2K3sp1 and acts as a print server. As stupid as this sounds this box is unbelievable noisy. The fans kick into overdrive and it sounds like the space shuttle taking off. A review of the logs shows no errors, the box functions fine, but the noise has got to go.

I'm d/l the latest firmware. If anyone has knowledge of whether this alone will fix it, or if I need to try something else, I would appreciate the advice.

Re: DL360 G4p

update Firmware & Proliant Support pack.

Then if the sound is still there open the server and check if all fans spin, can be a faulty fan...The newest agents can report the problem in IML.
You can boot from Smartstart CD and make a HW test to see if there is some kind of a fan/power supply/ps backplane problem...

Yes :) If you have also the Proliant Support Pack installed, it is obviously not firmware/driver related. So change the system board (the temp. sensors are on the system board, maybe they're defect).
