DL360 G5 NIC not reachable
we have two DL360 G5 running in a Cluster with W2K3.
Every week we have the Problem that on of the two Servers in the Cluster is not reachalbe anymore via NIC.
We called HP and they said thatr there is a Problem with the DL360 G5 and the NIC when using W2k3 Sp2.
They exchanged the board but this was not the reason.
So we called again but we did not get any information what the problem with W2K3 Sp2 and the DL306 G5 realy is.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve the problem?
Thx
Thomas

Re: DL360 G5 NIC not reachable
How many NIC are we talking about ?
Are the Firmware & the PSPs up to date ?
Use Firmware CD 7.9 & PSP 7.9
Also, if the NICs are Teamed.. R u using the Latest NIC teaming Software ?
Is TOE enabled ?
You mentioned this to happen Every Week, is there a Specific time ?
like as.. when a Scheduled backup occurs ?
Regards,
James.

Re: DL360 G5 NIC not reachable
we updated the Server with the lastest Maintance CD.
We are talking about one NIC / the onbaord NIC. This is connected to a switch (Alcatel) together with all other servers in the rack
The second NIC is uesed for the Cluster.
I do not know if TOE is enabled, I will check this.
We could find any pired of time when it happens. But it is every week at different times. There is no backup of the system at this times.
Regards,
Thomas

Re: DL360 G5 NIC not reachable
just in case if Sammy's recommendation does not work
- uninstall all hp components on Add/remove programs
- uninstall Network configuration utility(NCU)(from the NIC in local area connection - in case NCU was installed with PSP 7.9 )
- reboot the machine
- and install PSP 7.7
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26020.html
- and try again

Re: DL360 G5 NIC not reachable
I think that PSP 7.9. , TOE & RSS disabled and latest windows updates will help in the situation. If his don't help, I think problem is in your cluster configuration.
Downgrade only of the NIC driver will help (maybe)too...

Pac

Re: DL360 G5 NIC not reachable
as I am not the admin who is responsible for this server, the others deesided to install the server completely new.
But they took all the information from the forum for a new installation.
So they just Install PSP 7.70 an W2k Sp1.
As the problems just occurs once or twice a week, we have to wait if it happens again.
We switched the active Server in the cluster to new installed one in order to see if this server is now working fine.
we hope to have this problem fixed now.
I will report the changes in this case to the thread.
Thx Thomas
