DL360 G5 iLo2 won't power on server, blinking UID

I have a new DL360 G5 that mysteriously went offline and the iLo2 is failing to power the server back on.

The power status is "Standby (Off)" and both the momentary press/press and hold options fail to get the server to power on or respond in any way. The iLo logs look clean, firmware v1.29.

I believe the blinking UID is normal when the server is powered off. I have reset the iLo to no avail.

Please advise.

Here are some lines from the log. "Server power removed" cannot be accurate, the iLo never goes offline.

Informational iLO 2 05/23/2007 13:51 05/23/2007 13:29 287 Server power removed.

Did you try the cold boot of system? There have been a few times where this was the only way I could get a server to power up.

I don't have quick physical access to the server, that's what the iLo (w/ adv. pack) was for. This is the first server I've had this issue on and I'm concerned there may be a hardware issue. Guess I'll open a case with HP.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. You can do a cold boot through iLO with the advanced pack.

Thanks for the clarification. The only location I see a "cold boot" option is the power tab in the Integrated Remote Console. However, it's grayed out and doesn't respond when clicked. I haven't gotten on with HP support yet. Luckily this system isn't critical yet.

Hi Josh,

I have the same issue with a DL360G5 here. Have you been able to resolve the issue with HP Support?

Re: DL360 G5 iLo2 won't power on server, blinking UID

This ended up being a hardware issue with the power subsystem on the mainboard. Both power supplies were fine and a replacement mainboard with HP support has complete resolved the issue.
