DL360 G6 BSOD when PCIe card installed

Hi

I installed Windows 2008 Server Std 32 Bit on a ProLiant DL360 G6. Everything works OK so far. I also updated the BIOS to 2009.06.20

After that I tried to install a PCIe card into the full height slot and after booting Windows 2008 the BSOD (BlueScreen) appears with:

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

After that I tried two completely different PCIe cards and also BSOD appears. All 3 cards have a PLX PCI Bridge chipset although the cards are completely different and come from different manufacturers.

All 3 cards work correctly in a DL360 G5 server with Windows 2008 32 bit.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Hi Peter,

I am having the exact same problem. Did you find a solution?

Thanks

Re: DL360 G6 BSOD when PCIe card installed

Hi Donald

The solution is to ask the PCI or PCIe card manufacturer to modify the value of the register 034h of the PLX chip as described on support pages of PLX Tech. After this modification the cards work correctly in DL360 and also in DC7900 PCs.

http://www.plxtech.com/support/portal/knowledgebase

8311 card causes bluescreen on many platforms.

The BSOD can be related to Power Management. Try bypassing the Power Management Capability by modifying the PEX 8311 register 034h from 40h (default) to 50h by EEPROM.

I am also getting this on a DL360 G6 running Server 2008 R2

the cards are HP NC364T and NC360T
