During POST the HBA will ID itself and normally gives instructions on how to access the ROM. fibre usually shows up after iLO and the Smart Array controller display their information.

I think the later ROMS for G6 hide the POST information with a picture on the console. At some point during power on, the sceen displays something to the effect of hit a key to see more information, press a key to watch the system go throught POST and you will see the messages

When booting up the message says Press any key to view optional ROM menu, I do that and then I have the option to hit CTL-S to configure device (at this point it list a MAC address) after that I get an option to hit CTL-Q to get to the FAST!UTIL

ctrl-Q is the one you want. Fastutil is the utility for QLogic fibre HBA
