DL360 G6 bluescreen installing win 2003

Hello,

I'm trying to install win 2003 server enterprise edition on a DL360 G6.
During the "device installation" in 2003 installing, I have a lovely BOSD : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The server is new and no PCI card is installed.
The BIOS version is P64.

Help !

What hardware is installed? What OS was on it before? Did you use smartstart?

The Hardware is "OEM". I added a PCI card with a SAS port but I took away.

The server is new, then no OS was installed before.

Yes, I used smart start, provided with the server.

I updated the BIOS but I have the same error.

Hi Tony,

I too have seen this problem - the fix is to use the R2 version.

I believe the problem is caused by the new Inter-processor communication on Intel chips which is not understood by the vanilla W2K3 install.

Hope this helps - regards,

Please make sure you are using windows server 2003 R2 SP2 as nothing under that is supported.

If you try to install lower versions, you might encounter:

BSOD on Installation
NIC driver problems
Random Restarting
RAID connectivity problems
others.

This is the 2003 R2 SP2 matrix

Re: DL360 G6 bluescreen installing win 2003

Hi,

I called the HP support and the technician found a solution in the BIOS :

1. Go to System Options ├в Processor Options ├в Intel Hyper threading . Disable this option.
2. Go back to Processor Options and choose Core Disabling . Then choose One core .
3. Save the changes and reboot the server. Continue with the installation as normal.

It works ! The windows installation continued and then, I unable hyper-threading and multi-core.

2003 R2 and put on the latest firmware on the hardware before installing the OS. Download the latest firmware ISO and burn it to a DVD.

Re: DL360 G6 bluescreen installing win 2003

No, win 2003 R2 is not necessary.
firmware = BIOS or smart update DVD ? the BIOS is up-to-dated.

I am sorry, I am actualy the person that wrote the work around that you mention.

This is the link to it.

The R2 SP2 it is necessary and this is just a work around the problem, the options you disable can be enable after installing the R2 SP2 on the server.

R2 is just an updated version of 2003. It is worth putting R2 on. It fixes many HP glitches.
