DL360 G6 shutdowns frequently

DL360 G6 shutdowns automatically frequently. And it takes an hour to boot again. Moreover, it shows amber glow on the status box under the AMP status. What is the exact problem? Is it the Power supply or something else?

What changed? Which OS? If its Windows 2003 or 2008, a long boot could be DNS issues with the server or networking issues. What happened to the server that could have caused this? What changed? Did you put on firmware, patches, change hardware? Did you test you UPS for issues.

Re: DL360 G6 shutdowns frequently

Amber LED = hardware failure.

Check the IML (Integrated Management Log).

From windows with all tools installed:
All programs > HP system Tools > IML viewer.

From the smart Start CD:
Maintenance Tab > Insight Diagnostics > Logs > IML

Or run Insight diagnostics online from any supportet OS.

Or from the management Home page:
Find the IML or follow Red or yellow indicators.

Or connect to the ILo, and find the IML.

All of these way to read the IML, will tell you strait away, whats failing.

AMP = Advanced memory protection... you should check you DIMMS by removing them systematically and figure out the culprit. Boot to SmartStart go to Insight Diagnostics and generate a survey in advanced view level, check each DIMM for correctable/uncorrectable errors.

The IML will tell wich DIMM has failed.

Re: DL360 G6 shutdowns frequently

Use Memtest86 ISO to test each one separately. I just had a board with two bad DIMM slots so don't rule that out.
