DL360 Gen9 - Internal Storage Enclosure Device Not Authenticated As Genuine

Hello,

Since we updated every firmware using HP SSP (P26940_001_spp-2020.03.0-SPP2020030.2020_0319.22.iso) we started receiving this error for 2 drives.

"Internal Storage Enclosure Device Not Authenticated As Genuine"

The configuration is :

Smart Array H240ar with 4 drives. Only 2 have the "Not Enthenticated as genuine" error...

i tried to Downgrade the Firmware of the smart array, but the problem still the same.

Currently all the firmware have been updated to the latest version with the HP SSP 2020.03.0.

What should i do to resolve this issue ?

Thanks,

Eric R.

Hi,

What is the controller and drive firmware after update and before update ?

Have you rebooted server after downgrading ?

Please share IML event and ADU report.

also

Are you sure those two drives are genuine ?

Please share working and not working drive details/spare part number/Model/Firmware...etc

Regards,

Sudhir

Hello @sudhirsingh ,

Yes the drive are genuine, they came with the server on the original purchase directly from HP partner.

in attachment you will find the "Integrated Management Log".

Here is the working and "non-authenticated" drive : http://prntscr.com/s6xm9j

Thanks for your help !

Re: DL360 Gen9 - Internal Storage Enclosure Device Not Authenticated As Genuine

Hi Eric,

Not all the drives are visible on the snap,

However, seems like Bay 1 and Bay 3 are of same Model : "EH0146FAWJB"  which is reporting "Not Authenticated"

Other drives are of different model.

IML

"Option ROM POST Information: 1709-Slot 0 Drive Array - One or more drives could not be authenticated as genuine drives. Smart Array will not control the LEDs to these drives."

Kindly generate Array diagnostic report under SSA and check if that has an event similar to following:

"Device carrier authentication failed. This is not an authentic HPE carrier. I/O operations to the device will not be affected, but the Smart RAID/HBA controller will not control the LEDs to this device."

if yes, then may be the "HDD Carriers" is not authentic/genuine, may have been swapped.

You should raise a support case with HPE to validate these drives.
