DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

I have a DL360G1 that is getting a "Self-test err= RAM TEST" on POST. Does anyone know if the fix is replacing the ROC? Motherboard? Software fix? Thanks.

Re: DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

hi Jeffrey

how many memory modules do you have?
did you try reseating the memory modules?
or trying take some memory out?

the server hangs on that error?

Re: DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

Hello Karlo,

Thanks for the reply. There are four 256mb sticks of memory in the machine. The machine does not hang, but does present the error when intializing the Integrated Smart Array controller. No drives are found due to the array controller failure. I can hit "F1" to continue on and boot from CD or floppy. I have reseated all RAM, the Integrated Smart Array controller, the RILOE and the PCI expansion card cage.

Re: DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

hi

so you get the during controller initialization
"No drives are found due to the array controller failure."

so you can not get into OS
what is your controller?
just that error?

another question what is ROC?

Re: DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

Hello Karlo,

Thanks again for your help. I don't have an OS on this machine yet, I can't get to the drives yet. The controller is the Smart Array Integrated controller for the DL360 G1. Yes, just that error. ROC is Raid-on-Chip. The DL360 has an internal expansion card that is the RAID controller.

Re: DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

hi Jeffrey

in that case if the controller is an integrated card (Integrated Smart Array Controller)
I'm afraid you need to replace the System board

Re: DL360 - Integrated RAID Self-Test RAM error

hi again

just to confirm you can boot from smartstart CD 5.5 to check the smart array

that is if you want to be completely sure about the controller failure.
