DL360 - Win 2000 will not boot after mirroring
I have several of these servers to setup. Smart Array 5i RAID controller, two 36Gb hard drives in each server.
1. Intalled and configured Win 2000 server on first one.
2. Took one of the drives out of this server and installed into second server, and booted.
3. RAID controller began mirroring as expected. (pressed F1).
4. System would not boot into Windows - Non System disk, or disk error.
It's like the boot sector is not being read???
Put the drive back into the first server, and all boots normally.
Do I have to run Smart Start on the additional servers to configure something to make this work? I don't want to have to install on each server when mirroring should work...
Thanks,
Les.

Re: DL360 - Win 2000 will not boot after mirroring
You have cofigured the Mirror array on the second with two blank drives prior to installing the bootable drive in the first bay?
I think you need to rebuild or Sync at this point. Or try place ONLY the first drive at this point, the controller will go critial on there array, but this way you remove the mirror from the equation to boot. Then add the second drive and rebuild.
A product like ServerMagic creating an image and restore it to all the other blank mirror drives might be more simple.
