DL360 cpu fan error, but cpus have no fans!
I am getting eventid 4118 from cpqasm, "A required processor fan (fan #1) has failed".
However, both processors have passive heatsinks - no fans. The system then shuts down due to an overheat condition: eventid 4111 "Environment Abnormality Auto Shutdown (EAAS) initiated due to thermal reasons ..."
Is it possible that the heatsink has become separated from the processor? It does not seem to be so.
The case fan is spinning fine, and it is not an environmental issue (room is cool, plenty of ventilation).
What would be a good solution? Remove heatsinks and apply thermal grease?
Thanks for your help!

Re: DL360 cpu fan error, but cpus have no fans!
Hi,
What Generation server do you have ?
The CPU fans are normally the ones located close by the CPUs that blow the air through the heatsinks, rather than ones that sit actually on top of the CPUs.
Cheers,
Rob
