DL360 in Promiscuous mode

How can you set one of the nics on a Proliant DL360 to promiscuous mode?

Re: DL360 in Promiscuous mode

Two questions:

1. Which DL360 do you have? DL360, DL360G2, DL360G3?

2. What operating system will you be running?

Promiscuous mode requires support from both the NIC controller and the NIC driver.

Re: DL360 in Promiscuous mode

The Proliant NC7760 (and above) supports promiscuous mode. The DL360 G3 has a NC7781 PCI-X Gigabit NIC. Promiscuous mode is not set at the NIC controller itself - it is a feature of the controller & is available with the correct NIC driver installed.
To use promiscuous mode requires LAN monitoring or Nework Analysis software, it is this type of program which will put the NIC into promiscuous mode.
If you are running Unix, depending on the Unix version, there are command line utilities to turn this mode on.
If you have further questions, need more detail on what OS, and what exactly you are trying to do - include info on any relevant applications.
