DL360 new cpu problem

I have a dl 360 with a P3 866 1.65V and I want to put a 2nd cpu in. I have got P3 866 the same but only 1.7v or 1.75v When I put these in as the only CPU the server boots but no POST appears. The original 1.65v works ok. Any clues?

The servers do not like to have mixed processors in them, especially diferent stepping levels. Mainly, the DL360 has a VRM for each CPU. If the CPU's are diferent, then the CPU's cannot sync.

Thanks for the response, but I am only using 1 cpu at a time and the only difference is that one is 1.65v and the other is 1.7v - is there a setting that could be changed on the motherboad to adapt the m/board to the 1.7v cpu?

Hmmm.. not sure... the settings would have to be part of SW1 which is "undocumented".

Hi,

What i can suggest is boot the bos with old processor. Clear the configuration using the switch settings.
Then make the 4 switch to on position and then try to flash the bios.

Did you buy this processor from compaq?
AS long as you can boot off the original cpu , i would suggest updating your BIOS and then try and boot from the new CPU.
