DL360G3 w/ SA642

Is is possible to use this controller in the G3 version of the DL360 to attach to the onboard SCSI backplane? The SCSI backplane is attached to the motherboard via some propritary connector (not internal LVD). Is there some super-secret cabling option or are the two just not compatable?

Any help would be appreciated,
Jason

Re: DL360G3 w/ SA642

The SA642 as an option is for external devices (like a StorageWorks Enclosure) only. The internal controller only has one upgrade which is the BBWCE.
One problem even if you could connect it with an internal cable would be how to route the cable through the server (there is no room)

Re: DL360G3 w/ SA642

Thanks for the reply. I would agree that the SA642 is for external only for the DL360G3. I have installed 642's in DL360G2 and G1 servers as well as DL380 (all gen, incl G3). I think it is a design flaw on HP's part to not allow AC upgrades on the DL360G3.

Thanks again,

I would agree the Dl360 should have the option...
but then again... it's only two drives... how much of a benefit would one RAID controller be over any other...?
