DL360G4p - output of /proc/cpuinfo is wrong

Hello,

on a DL360G4p the output of /proc/cpuinfo is following

model name : Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.40GHz
stepping : 3
cpu MHz : 2800.255
cache size : 2048 KB

Why is the cpu Mhz only at 2800 ?

Greatings,

Hello Mario,

I wouldn't rely on software reporting, it should be accurate, but it may be reading a multiplier incorrectly or something like that. What does it say during POST? Have you tried any other applications to check this? Are you running the latest BIOS rev?

Hpe this helps, please post back with results/questions.

You can check all CPU parameters with Intel Processor Identification Utility as well:

Mario, you neglect to mention which version of Linux you are running. Is it perhaps a version that pre-dates the 3.4GHz Xeon? It may not know how to probe to get the right info. The model name is correct because the processor just responds with a string.

Re: DL360G4p - output of /proc/cpuinfo is wrong

Hello,

thank you for your answers.
The servers is locatet at out customer.
So I├В┬┤m not able to reboot or run any tools on it.

The Linux Version running on this server is SLES9 which is normaly able to identify the cpu correctly.
On a DL360G4 the output is correct for example.
