Re: DL380 Boot Error

Hi,

do you have a diskette i the floppy ?

Troubleshooting guide states :

602-Diskette Boot Record Error
Audible Beeps: None
Possible Cause: The boot sector on the boot disk is corrupt.
Action:
1. Remove the diskette from the diskette drive.
2. Replace the diskette in the drive.
3. Reformat the diskette.

It can be that you have a diskette in the drive and the system tries to boot, but can't...

If you have diskette, take it out.
If not, update firmware and clear NVRAM from the Switch on the systemboard or the RBSU/Clear CMOS...

Hope this helps...

Re: DL380 Boot Error

Hello Francis,

Its always advisable to use the "ERASE UTILITY" while booting from SmartStart CDs(assisted installation), Specially when "REBUILDING" a server; This will ensure that the disk is free from all previous DATA.

Erase Utility can be found under MAINTENANCE Tab.

James.
