DL380 G1 external SCSI

The G1's are so old now I can't find data on them, and need to hook up an external autoloader. I seem to remember that I'll need to change termination, but can't find out how to do it...
All help appreicated.

Re: DL380 G1 external SCSI

Hi,

the DL380 G1's external SCSI connector is controlled by the Integrated Smart Array controller. This does not support autoloaders or libraries, only standalone tape drives. You'll need a seperate SCSI controller.

Thanks! I added a separate controller and all devices are now seen.

Re: DL380 G1 external SCSI

FYI - I believe that on a G1 you can remove a chip from the on board controller and this removes\disables the 'array' functionality and then you can hang an autochanger off the back.

I have several DL380 G1's like this.

Note: I'm not HP\Compaq certified and this may not be a good idea, but to the best of my knowledge something akin to what I have described above can be done and works.
