DL380 G2 Dual CPU issue

Just installed an additional 1.4g cpu and both processors usage stays between 60-80 percent. When running single cpu usage was between 50-60 percent. Using ACPI MultiProcessor driver. Did the exact same thing on an identical server and the usage went down to 20 percent. Any ideas?

Direct from Compaq. That is what is so strange.

Make sure you have latest firmware for the server.

Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for ProLiant DL380 G2 (P24) Servers
version 4.05 P24-05/01/2004 (17 May 04)

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20884.html

And the processor with the lowest stepping in sockett one.

Processor stepping will slow down the performance.

since you did not buy the processor at same time; the older proc is in first cpu sockett. try swapping them around and see if perf changes.

I think new processors have stepping of B1.

Tarek.
