DL380 G2 Memory upgrade
I have 2 GB in this server running Netware 6.5 Slot 1, 4 have 128MB the rest 512MB. I removed the 512 and replaced them with the 1GB. The server counted the correct amount of RAM (4352 MB) When the server gets to the screen where Netware is about to load the serer auto abends. The current ROM is P24-05/01/2004 Do I need a ROM upgrade to utilize the 1GB Dimms? The other question is I am not sure if it is configured for online spare. Not sure were I would look for that.
Here is the link to the memory config I used.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: DL380 G2 Memory upgrade
Hi Jon,
the configuration you have is correct, the system ROM you have is the latest for this server...
Since the BIOS initialized all memory during POST, you haven't configured online spare, you can check this in BIOS->System Options->Advanced memory protection->Online Spare .
Do you use :
2048-MB PC133-MHz Registered ECC SDRAM Memory Option Kit (2 x 1024 MB)
201695-B21 ?
You can boot smartstart CD to check if the server crashes - it can be that the issue is OS related.

Re: DL380 G2 Memory upgrade
Hello Jon,
Much before that, try clearing the NVRAM using the system maintenance switch.
Regards.
