DL380 G2 Tempramental boot up problem

Hi Everyone.

I have a problems with a DL380 G2 at the moment. System and 5i SA controller firmwares are up to date.

The problem is that the server occaisionally fails to find either the floppy drive or the hard discs.. Gut feeling says motherboard is on the way out but I'm willing to accept any ideas before swapping hardware..

Re: DL380 G2 Tempramental boot up problem

I would suspect the SCSI backplane as both the floppy and HDDs connect to it.
ThereтАЩs your problem!!! This thing is set to EVIL!

Re: DL380 G2 Tempramental boot up problem

Forgot to mention that the discs are 2 18GB in a mirrored set and have the latest firmware too (the disc firmware was updated to try and resolve the problem).

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks Viljay. That was the other suspicion. I'll kick off the work to get it replaced I think..

Re: DL380 G2 Tempramental boot up problem

Hi,

What is the status of the top two leds on server. Which means as follow :

1) Internal Health Red = System critical
Amber = System degraded
Green = Normal
2) External health (Power Supply) Red = Critical power supply failure
Amber = Power redundancy failure
Green = Normal

and on the board the board there is a Over temperature check for status of the same.
