DL380 G3, 2000 sp4, RAID 0+1, increase space ?
dl 380 g3
win 2000 svr sp4
6 disks in raid 0+1
18 gb ea hdd
so it's at about 50+ gb of total usable space
if i want to increase the size, what would you recommend?
can i just add a drive, 1 at a time, letting the array rebuild, until all 6 drives have been upgraded? i'm thinking 6 x 72 gb disks.
should i be thinking about changing the config so the first 2 drives are in a raid 0+1, then the remaining 4 in a raid 5 or 6? if this route, what steps would you recommend i take?
thanks for your help

Both proposals would work and add space to your server.
> ...add a drive, 1 at a time, letting the array rebuild, until all 6 drives have been upgraded? i'm thinking 6 x 72 gb disks.
After replacing all drives you will see the new space in the controller only. You then either create new LUNs and new OS partitions, or expand the existing LUNs and cretae new OS partitions or expand the existing partitions.

Are all 6 disks in a raid10 array or do you havetwo disks in raid1 and 4 disks in raid10? If all six disks in raid10, you have to backup your data, recreate the arrays and install OS/restore the data.
Do you use the embedded 5i controller or you have an upgrade raid controller option?

add 1 by 1, then expand/extend array
