DL380 G3 CD-ROM Tray

This is really more of a nuisance than a problem. The CD-ROM tray in our server keeps popping out. The server can go days untouched and we'll walk in and the CD tray will be sticking out. I don't see any unusual messages in the event logs...any ideas?

Hello Amanda,

Just a wild guess but it's probably something from the O/S calling it. Check your scheduled tasks. Look at your virus scanner, if you have it set to scan a CD-ROM, that's a good bet.

Only other thing I can recommend is to run the Firmware Updates for the server and make sure it's not some firmware/driver conflict.

if the real cause cannot be found, removing the drive may be an option.
after all it is hot-swappable, so when needed you can put in in place.
