DL380 G3 Clock Reset after ASR to BIOS Date 2004.09.15

Hello,

Twice now I've had a Win 2003 SP2 DL380 G3 server ASR. After the ASR, the local time has been reset to 15/09/2004 which is the exact same date as the latest BIOS installed.
I have tried turning off the server for 5 mins with the power removed to see if the CMOS battery is flat, but that did not replicate the problem
I can't replicate the ASR at the moment either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Mark.

Can anyone out there offer any reason why this may occur?

How do I check if the CMOS battery is still OK or dead on this old server, as I can't find this in the SMHP.

Cheers
Mark.

Hi Mark,

It sounds like a CMOS reset (same as flicking switch 6 on the maintenance switchpack to reset the BIOS). This may be power related.

Have a look in the Integrated Management Log (IML) to see if there are any clues.
Start-Programs-HP System Tools- IML Viewer.
If the system has older utilities it may be under "Compaq System Tools" instead. Check for Power Supply or any other errors with a timestamp around the time of system ASR's.

You already have the latest BIOS for the G3.

Try running with one Power supply removed(if you have 2) or using raw mains in place of UPS power.

Regards,

Brian
