DL380 G3 Multiple video cards

Is there a way that the server’s bios can be configured to use the onboard vga card by default instead a PCI video card? I haven’t seen any video options inside the bios.

Thank you,
Alex

Re: DL380 G3 Multiple video cards

There is a switch on the M/B to disable/enable the on-board video:

SW2
Description
Default Setting

1
Embedded video disable
Off

2
Configuration lock
Off

3
Rack mount
On

4
Diskette drive boot override
Off

5
Password disable
Off

6
Maintenance
Off

Re: DL380 G3 Multiple video cards

cnb, where is this sw2 located? My DL380 G3 has a sw4 with 6 switches - some of which match your description; however switch 1 is labelled "secjmp" and my info states that it is to enable/disable ilo security.

Re: DL380 G3 Multiple video cards

Did you ever get an answer to this? My server has the same configuration. I can find an SW5 and an SW4 but not SW2.

Did you figure out what setting to use to disable the video?

Thanks

Hi Alex, what are you trying to do?

VDI enviroment with dedicated video cards?

I was planning to do it also but... wich cards and wich hypervisor?

Thanks in advance.

As I suspect, the RBSU permit disable the VGA or set up as primary video controller.

Re: DL380 G3 Multiple video cards

I found the location where the SW was supposed to be but is not present. The card that I was interested in installing was a 16 video/audio output graphics card.

Thanks for the reply.
