DL380 G3 - Pairing NICs
Hullo all!
I have a couple of HP Proliant DL380 G3 servers, and I was wondering if I could pair the NICs. The idea is that they could function under one IP address, but would have the functionality of using two network connections.
Can this be done via HP software, or in Server 2003 itself?
Thanks much.

Re: DL380 G3 - Pairing NICs
If you have the HP SMH and Insight Agents etc. installed there should be an HP Network item in your system tray at the lower right for the HP Network Configuration Utility software.
It's green...right-click to open this and it will team your NICs for you.

Re: DL380 G3 - Pairing NICs
hi,
install latest drivers :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=316529&prodNameId=3288130&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-23565e5af0084d12a752b90348
install latest network configuration utility :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=316529&prodNameId=3288130&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-23565e5af0084d12a752b90348
use the icon on the taskbar on the right, select both adapters and click team. Note that if you are conected through RDP you will lose network connection.
there are 2 main team types you can use :
TLB - send with 2 NICs(2Gb/s) , receive with one of the only(1Gb/s)
NFT - you use one nic and if the connection is dropped(cable/ switch port/NIC failure) the standby NIC becomes active.
The OS sees only 1 NIC...

Re: DL380 G3 - Pairing NICs
Thanks for the replies. I'm in the process of trying them now.
btw, the 2nd link posted (for the network utility) is the same link as the first for the NIC driver.
