Does the Prolaint DL380 G3 support the Smart Array 5i with a optional Battery-Backed Write Cache (BBWC) configuration or is it the Smart Array 5i Plus with a optional 64mb Battery-Backed Write Cache (BBWC) configuration. Going by the part number I have the Smart Array 5i Plus installed now (260741-001) and it shows on boot up Smart Array 5i with 64mb but there is no battery. If the battery is an option were does it connect to the 5i Plus Smart Array card.

Solution
Hi Fred,
if you open up the server, you should see a cable running down the right-hand side, right by the drive backplane. One end is connected to the 5i controller in the server (near the back). There's a small plastic holder sitting near the other end of the cable beside the CD drive. You clip the battery into the plastic holder and attach the cable, and leave the battery sitting where you found the plastic holder.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Stephen
