DL380 G3 boot from internal DDS4 (OBDR)

Hi,
I have a problem with boot DL380 G3 from tape drive (DDS4 with OBDR support).
I'd like to recover OS from the tape using OBDR.
When I am pushing eject button on tape device while powering the server on is nothing happen. System is starting normally.
In controller settings (smart array 5i) I've OBDR properly configured. Also boot order is OK and I have latest firmware and drivers.

Thanks for any help.

Re: DL380 G3 boot from internal DDS4 (OBDR)

Hi,

I don't know if it has any bearing on your problem but if the DAT drive is a hot-plug version it was only originally supported at SCSI ID 5 in DL380's(Top left slot at the front). There is a small plastic filler which needs to be removed to fit the tape drive in this slot and still permit 5 disk drives +tape. It's possible that this slot may be monitored at POST for OBDR.

I'm not 100% sure if it makes any difference. Also the firmware on the tape drive needs to support OBDR but it sounds like you have already confirmed this to be supported.

Make sure the 5i firmware is at 2.66

I hope this helps.

Thanks for reply.

But I think is because my configuration is not supported.
