DL380 G3 failed RAID5

I have a DL380 G3 server with 3 72 Gig drives RAID5 that I have recently taken ownership. The drives are in slot 3,4 and 5 all on Port 2. The drive in the slot 4 failed and I have replaced it with a new drive. When checking the HP System Management homepage under the Array Controller Information the server detected the drive fine, but it is saying the it is "Unconfigured". The data is not synching to the new drive. There is however and red X on Port 2, Drive 12 with a "failed" status. See the attachment for details. What can I do to synch the data to the new drive that would take the least amount of time (mission critical server)?

Re: DL380 G3 failed RAID5

Sean,

First of all, as you are probably utilisng onboard Smart Array 5i controller, try to use ACU (Array Congiguaration Utility) to manage your RAID array - it shall give you precise info about your current status.

You may download the latest version from there:

Normally the rebuilding process should start automatically if you replace failed drive with a new one in the same slot.
