DL380 G3 hang problem
I have installed the latest HP support pack & drivers, windows service packs & patches and firmware.
There is no information in the event logs, apart from 'the previous shutdown was unexpected'
The server tends to do this when it is under high i/o load.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: DL380 G3 hang problem
Possible Defective processor.
the new firmware suppose to have fixed that issue. if you have this firmware
Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for ProLiant DL380 G3 (P29) Servers
version 4.09 P29-09/15/2004 (11 Oct 04)
then what is left is to replace processor or system board.
Make sure all memory in the server is HP Certified for that server; if you are using 3rd party memory remove it; and we can disable Automatic server recovery ASR in the bios that way you can get a bug check.
also can run server diag from smart start 7.10 and put stress on the processors with looped diag about 20 loops; and see if it hangs.
Best regards,
Tarek.

Re: DL380 G3 hang problem
Will check the BIOS again and make sure it's the latest. Will then check Processor.
Cheers
