DL380 G3 indicates FAN2 failure, cpu area.

Have a distant proliant that has had a fan failure (a single CPU server) and when replaced the same error code results, server will not start-up.
Could it be possible that the slot for that FAN is bad on the system board?
Error code is 1611-CPU Fan 2 short CPU fan has failed. Replace the failed fan.
(Fan X) failure detected
Tech onsite moved suspect fan away (it runs fine in another slot) any fan placed into suspect slot (FAN for CPU1) goes amber.
I've just never seen one act like this.
Thanks-

Just check the document attached for the fan configuration on the DL380 G3, check the processor fan number 2 and make sure this is tha fan that you the tech swapped already, if it is that would be a bad fan slot on the system board and the system board replacement would be required.

Thanks for the DOC will share that, kind of what I was thinking, although probably rare, it's looking like that FAN port has failed. We're getting a replacement system board.
