DL380 G3 problem CPU Upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade my DL380 G3 with a new processor (XEON 2.4Ghz). Processors are the same.
All is OK with one processor . When i plug the new proc, server reboot after windows 2000 load.
Reboot appears not only during W2K loading, in Smartstart Cd too. When i remove second proc, server is great.
Have you an idea ? (sorry for my poor english)

Re: DL380 G3 problem CPU Upgrade

Possibly a bad processor or voltage regulator (more likely the VRM).
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: DL380 G3 problem CPU Upgrade

I would try the CPU's and VRM's individually first to narrow the problem down. Replace you old CPU with the new, then the VRM, then return tho the old CPU with the new VRM. You should know what the problem is by the end of this
