DL380 G4 53xx/64xx system halt on boot
Unable to boot at all with cards in any slots. Already tried different cards, slots and cabling. All cards are up to date (Used a DL580 to update with firmware boot cd)
Suggestions?

Re: DL380 G4 53xx/64xx system halt on boot
Try to boot from Smartstart 7.4.

If not able to boot, just post the exact error message.

Re: DL380 G4 53xx/64xx system halt on boot
attepmpted every slot with different cards we know works and different cables as well. Reset non-volatile memory to no avail.
error is approx:
"Unsupported pci card in slot 2 detected. Remove card from slot and reboot. System halted" when in slot 2. Same message regardless of controller card used (5300 or 6400)
EXACT message will be posted tomm.

Re: DL380 G4 53xx/64xx system halt on boot
Upon further investigation it was determined the 6400 must run by itself and that the 5300 is specifically denied support in the bios to enforce the upgrade.
Thank you, the issue was resolved internally.

Spare Part No. 171383-001 is the Smart Array 5300 Controller.
