DL380 G4 Cable Management Arm

Just bought a lovely shiny new DL380 G4 to join all our G3 DL380s.

I was very impressed to see that HP decided to change the design of the G3 arm to one which now stops me shutting the back door on my Compaq rack.

Why oh why did HP do this - the G3 arm worked perfectly and fitted.

I though they had sent a cable arm for a tractor by mistake!

Anyone else have any thoughts

You didn't know you needed a new rack for that server? ;o)


Unfortunately, HP has made some really good cable management designs go to hell (as well as changed some really bad designs to work alot better). Best you can do is complain about it and hope they here ya. Alot of changes in design are usually from negative feedback and/or suggestions.

Hands up who liked the original webbing based design on the DL580 series?

That was an awesome system and the arm that replaced it sucked hard. :(

It's didn't suck hard. it just didn't move properly. OKOK.. it sucked hard.


I liked the "garter belt".

On the other hand, using cable management arms blocks airflow anyways.

According to the power calculators, the G4s are hotter and pull alot more power than the G3s.
