DL380_G4 Cluster package with MSA500 backups
Hi,
We have just purchased the above cluster solution for a few of our larger remote offices.
The cluster will be windows 2003 R2 and the backup software we use is Backup Exec 10d
We would like a backup solution that enables both nodes of the cluster Active/passive to be physically connected to the tape device. We were going to use a 1-8 Ultrium 960 autoloader, but I have been advised that connecting both nodes to this device is not supported.
Could anybody please advise what tape devise we should use that supportsd connection to both nodes and is able to failover?
Many Thanks

Re: DL380_G4 Cluster package with MSA500 backups
Hi Bill,
You need an MSL2024 with fiber connection.
But for this configuration you need one SAN switch and two FCAs to connect both servers and this library in the same SAN zone.
Another option:
Buy a 1-8 autoloader and external NSR (Network storage router)
SAN switch
2 FCA (Fiber channel adapter)
Another option:
Buy an MSL2024 with two drives so you can connect one on each server with SCSI connection.
NSR converts SCSI to Fiber
The only way to share an external tape drive is on a SAN environment.
