DL380 G4, Fan Noise
Since yesterday I've got a free server of a company.
Nice, big and heavy. :P
It is intended that this will move (soon) to a colocation.
It is used for simple purposes, but now wants to use it for little tests.
I totally get crazy about the loud noise as the fans do.
Of course it is not something for home-use (there is certain home-use to, but still), I'd still prefer the fans, especially when there is nothing to do, run slower. (they now run continuously at 100%)
Specs:
HP DL380 G4
Intel Xeon Dual Core 2.8 Ghz @ (i686)
4 GB RAM Memory
RAID-5 arrangement Harddrive
I have Ubuntu Server 9.10 (32bit) installed.
I also have the HP ProLiant Support Pack CD for Debian GNU / Linux 5.0 ( "lenny") and Ubuntu 9.04 ( "jaunty") x86 and AMD64/EM64T installed, but the full blown problem solved.
A summary what has been done:
* Bios / firmware (devices) update -Firmware CD;
* HP ProLiant Support Pack CD for Debian GNU / Linux 5.0 ( "lenny") and Ubuntu 9.04 ( "jaunty") x86 and AMD64/EM64T installed;
* Smart Start CD, no problems with testing.
The temperature of the processor remains at 8C, which is a nice temperature?
sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +8.3 ° C (crit = +31.3 ° C)
I have several topics / forums readed, but I have still not come with the solution.
Someone with experience of HP DL? Someone a solution / idea?
Thanks for your answer. :)
