DL380 G4 Fan full speed, PSP 8.00 W2K8
Have made a install of Windows Server 2008 x86 & x64 all OK no issues.
Then have I installed the new PSP 8.00
After this changes the fan speed change to FULL all the time.
Only fix is to change start of cpqasm2 to 4 = disabled and reboot.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cpqasm2\Start
It is CP008444 (x86) and CP008445 (x64)
Both is version 5.44
Have other seen this and is it a known bug ?
Peder

Re: DL380 G4 Fan full speed, PSP 8.00 W2K8
Peder,
We had the same problem. Also on a Proliant DL380 G4 after installing W2K8 and the PSP 8.0.
We have solved it by booting the Server with the "HP Firmware and maintenance CD v8.0"
after booting from the CD you should update the Server's Firmware to the latest version and the problem is solved! The Fans are now working at a lower speed.
Hope this works for you.
Greetings,
Bram Hautvast
