DL380 G4 Memory Problem
I have 2 dl308 G4 servers that had 6x1GB ram modules installed. I have recently replaced these with 6x2GB modules to double the ram capacity.
Both machines will not recognise the additional ram - they detect 6x1GB modules when they actually have 2GB modules installed. Both servers are running latest firmware.
Anyone know what may cause this?

Re: DL380 G4 Memory Problem
This server should support 12GB of RAM ├в 400MHz, PC2-3200, DDR2, SDRAM DIMM memory├в
If the 2GB RAM is from HP, can you provide the part number?
Also what is the BIOS version installed.
When 12GB is installed will server give any Beep, does it complete POST and BOOT.

Re: DL380 G4 Memory Problem
Please call HP Technical Support to get all the 2GB Memory replaced.
If you have bought this memory from a Vendor then contact them to get replacement.
It seems like it's an issue with new DIMM Modules.
Thankyou.

Re: DL380 G4 Memory Problem
have a look here:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12028_div/12028_div.html
the problem is that for some reason you need to have dual ranked modules in certain slots and single ranked in the other. As far as I know you need two dual ranked modules in BANK A and in B&C you need single ranked.
Hope that helps.
