DL380 G4 + Netware 6.5 Teaming

Hi,

Ive jsut setup a new server using nw 6.5 sp3, and have teamed the two network cards for fault tolerance: Below is the details of the load/bind commands in the autoexec.ncf
LOAD ODINEB.NLM
LOAD TCPIP
LOAD QASP.LAN FRAME=ETHERNET_II NAME=TEAM1 VSLOT=1
LOAD BMAPI.NLM
LOAD Q57.LAN FRAME=ETHERNET_II SLOT=10017 NAME=Q57_1_EII SPEED=1000FD
LOAD Q57.LAN FRAME=ETHERNET_II SLOT=10018 NAME=Q57_2_EII SPEED=1000FD
QASP BIND TEAM1 Q57_1_EII
QASP BIND TEAM1 Q57_2_EII STANDBY
BIND IP TEAM1 ADDR=10.1.1.16 MASK=255.255.255.0 GATE=10.1.1.1

Everything starts ok, and the server communicates as it should do, but when i check the hp advanced server program console, it shows the primary link as "down" If i unplug the secondary link cable, which is active, and then re-plug it in, communications are not re-established...

any thoughts would be appreciated..

Regards

Re: DL380 G4 + Netware 6.5 Teaming

Peter,
Do both NICs show physical link (link light)?

If you don't team them, do both adapters work if you assign an IP address to them? In other words, is this just a teaming problem or a problem with one of the NICs?

Re: DL380 G4 + Netware 6.5 Teaming

Hi,

Ive sorted out the problem where both nics were not linked, this was due to the fact I was forcing the second nic to 1000mbit fd, which was connected to a 10/100 switch... Ive now rectified this

At the moment it is set to Smart Load Balance, I was wanting to set this to "fault tolerant"

Any help would be great..
