Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

What kind of results do you see from this 3rd party utility?

Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

Hi,
Read speeds attached. I have tested another utility too which tests write speed.

Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

you're read performance looks ok, but your write performance looks to be a bit low

Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

in device manager,

click plus next to disk drives
double click the drive there
click policy tab
enable write caching

see if that changes your write performance and let us know

Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

Hi,
Enabled but didn't make any difference to write speed. I don't know what to do about this as our production slq 2000 server performs regular transaction log dumps and daily database dumps to a different server (all suffering with slow writes) which in turn takes forever to copy (1GB switch).
Thanks for your help so far.

Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

I did some research on a proper benchmark tool. Some sites seem to find IOMeter as a good one to try:

Re: DL380 G4 Poor disk performance

I found a performance document regarding 6i controllers and benchmark taken from IOMeter you might be able to compare to. But obviously this is 6i, not 6402:
