DL380 G4 SAS disk I/O Error

We have recently purchased 2 x DL380 G4 SAS disk with P600 controller dual 3.6Ghz and 4GB RAM

I experienced an issue when building with smart start where windows 2003 installation failed during the GUI set up with a
STOP 0xA: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error on both servers.

this recovered after a reboot.

I have also tried to deploy w2k3 using altiris and I get this error every time during the gui setup. I have tried V5.0.2.32 and V5.2.0.32 drivers without success.

Does anyone know
a, the official line with this.

b, the workaround to deploy w2k3 using altiris.

Thanks

Mark

Have you updated firmware?
Please look into this advisory

Re: DL380 G4 SAS disk I/O Error

Hi Mark,

Please see the following customer advisory on this problem. You need updated system BIOS (August 2005 or later) to sort it and the DL380G4 is among the systems which have this issue.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00608975

The latest DL380G4 BIOS (October 2005) is available from here.

I hope this helps.

Re: DL380 G4 SAS disk I/O Error

Thanks guys.

Server is already running Bios 10/10/2005

I have re-applied just in case.

An advisory notice was included in the box. The advisory notice recommended dowloading the 5.2.0.32 drivers.

The server still blue screens during the GUI portion of the windows installation.

If the issue is with intensive I/O, I am inclined to remove as much memory as possible to slow the process. Dont want to remove processor because of HAL issues. This said, I dont belive this to be an acceptable workaround.
