DL380 G4 Smart Array 6i Performance

Hello,

When I shutdown / restart the server running Windows 2003 SP1, it takes around 10-15 minutes for it to finish shutting down. It boots up in around 2 minutes. Is this normal performance as we have not installed the BBWC option yet?

Thanks!

Hi Charles!

This problem is not related to hardware... Post your OS, installed applications. Usually it related with stoping system services for graceful shutdown

Re: DL380 G4 Smart Array 6i Performance

This is on Windows Server 2003 SP1 running as a Domain Controller. Exchange is not installed. The long part of the shut down is after the "Windows is shutting down" box goes away and I am left with a grey screen. The reason I thought it might be the disks is that when the server reaches this point the activity on the disks (RAID5) blikns between the 3 drives, not in sync like usual.

Check policy settings "Clear virtual memory pagefile when system shuts down"
Maybe it is enable ?
You can check it in
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
