DL380 G4 VHDCI SCSI Port

Hi,

I would like to know if the internal VHDCI SCSI port can only be used to a tape device? I have another SCSI device and would like to know if I could get that device to work.

The main use for the external SCSI port on a DL380G4 is to connect an external MSA30SB disk shelf or a MSA500G2. Though you can connect a tape drive, the preformance of the drive is limited by the Smart Array.

Connecting other devices may be supported, but as previously asked... what is the device?

RFememver, you are connecting the SCSI device to the Smart Array, not the the onboard SCSI Controller.

not to the internal SCSI ... MicroD-50 (Female) SCSI Connector SCSI II

if you use additional card it have to be compatible with PCI-X 100 / 133 and than you might get external ports or adapter to: MicroD-50 (Female) SCSI Connector if there some available on the market

Decided to purchase a SCSI card instead of mess with the internal scsi port.
