DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003
I have upgraded DL380 G4 from one til two processors. For some reason it will not boot.
According to my vendor, I have recived the right processor. Any idea what could be wrong?
Will a firmware or a bios upgrade solve this?
Cheers,
TL

Re: DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003
it could be a CPU stepping issue. You can switch both processors and try if booting is possible. If not - BIOS update is always a good idea. Additionaly you can test if booting only with the 2nd CPU is possible

Re: DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003
I have tried to boot withe the 2nd CPU still doesn't work.
I've also tried to move the original CPU to the other slot and that works.

Re: DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003
B51 is just the name for the bios-series for this server. It is important to know which date stays after b51, this will show us if bios is new or not.
kind regards,
