DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003

Hi all,

I have upgraded DL380 G4 from one til two processors. For some reason it will not boot.
According to my vendor, I have recived the right processor. Any idea what could be wrong?
Will a firmware or a bios upgrade solve this?

Cheers,
TL

Hi,

it could be a CPU stepping issue. You can switch both processors and try if booting is possible. If not - BIOS update is always a good idea. Additionaly you can test if booting only with the 2nd CPU is possible

Thanks for your reply.
I have tried to boot withe the 2nd CPU still doesn't work.
I've also tried to move the original CPU to the other slot and that works.

Re: DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003

We don't use sparepart numbers. Since it was possible to get original hardware and it's less expensive.
My vendor has the processors at the moment.
We they will come back to me today.
Yes, I have PPM for both processors.
BIOS Version P51 (HP DL380 G4).

Re: DL380 G4 dual processor won't boot Windows 2003

Hi there,

B51 is just the name for the bios-series for this server. It is important to know which date stays after b51, this will show us if bios is new or not.

kind regards,
