DL380 G4 locking up - MSA30 drives all lit up

WE have a DL380 (using Server 2003 SP2)connected to an MSA30 via a 6404 RAID card, just recently the server has loacked up a few times. Explorer seems to hang, no access to the start menu or the drive list and all of the drives on the MSA have their "read/write" arrows lit up. (but not the drives in the server itself - these are on the internal 6i RAID card) the server is not usable and has to be restarted by powering off. we have run the server through the latest firmware updates as of today and it is now up to date. However, no errors appear on the event log - any ideas

Hello Dan,
How did you update the Firmware on this server
? Did u use the firmware maintenance cd ?
If not, Have you updated the Controller firmware ? How about the Firmware for the HDD ?

If you may post the Model # of the HDD, we may be able to check if the HDD would need a Firmware Update. Model # usually starts with BD/BF/BA etc.

As per the privious update,

Please use the following link to update the firmware on the server. This should take care of the firmware on the HDDs as well

Hi- firmware was updated from the CD - the firmware on the HDD's are all up to date and we have updated all other firmware possible too

thanks Happy dude - it sounds like the hotfix may well apply to us - i've requested it.... HP are also replacing the backplane, midplane and RAID card hopefully a combination of all of this will solve the problem

well - we had the raid card replaced - and that didn't solve the problem - 2 hours later we had another lockup. We have now had the MSA chassis replaced(including the backplane) and one of the hard disk caddies which had a broken spring on the "eject" button/lever and we're crossing our fingers.
