DL380 G5 Dual processor 5260-3.33

I have a problem when I install two processors from the type 5260. When I install one proc. the server boots nomaly. When I install the second proc., the two leds on the front are on. The cooling fans are running at high speed. I tested both proc. seperatly, one by one. With bote seperatly the server boots. The BIOS is at the latest date, 11/01/2008. Is there something I oversee?

are you sure safe 2 module VRM for cpu.
please test one by one.

I tested each processor seperatly with each VPM. One by one is no problem. Th problem starts when I put thm both in the server. Both leds of the processors on the front of the server turn on. The fans spins at high speed.

May be obvious but are the CPUs the same stepping number?

Stepping might be the problem.
I had a problem similar lately.
Max 4 stepping between the processors AND the processor with the highest stepping needs to ben in slot 1

Ichecked the stepping ID and they are all the same, 000a.
The numbers of core=2.
I installed a system board with spare 436526-001 and still I have the two leds of the processors that comes on when I power on the server.

Hi there,

I had this problem with some brand new servers and I found 7 more system boards with the same problem. They were all Rev AY. What fixed my problem in the end was using a Rev BD system board but I had to take this from another server as all the boards that came from HP stock were rev AY. I can supply the serial numbers of the faulty system boards if you want to email me

I installed now a system board with rev BD. I still get the same problems.The two leds of the processors who comes on when I start the server, the fans are running full speed.

Today, I updated the ROM to 05/18/2009.
Still the same problems.

Are these both HP CPU part number 455302-001 or something else?
